NEW! After-School Strings Class! The Eugene-Springfield Youth Orchestras (ESYO) is offering our 4th and 5th graders the opportunity to learn a stringed instrument! Classes are held here at Edgewood after school! Julia Frantz is a wonderful violinist and teacher and is excited to have your child in her strings class! Explore Science at the Eugene Science Center!
Eugene Science Center recently launched a new drop-off Friday after-school program in response to Friday early release in local schools. The program is an opportunity for Kindergarten through 5th grade students to explore science in a fun, hands-on setting. Science After School is led by experienced STEM educators and incorporates both structured and open-ended inquiry based learning opportunities. Advance registration is required. Sing with the Oregon Children’s Choir!
The Oregon Children’s Choir welcomes K-12th graders to join one of our fun and inspiring choirs for the 2018-2019 school year! Develop new singing techniques, learn new songs and make new friends. Learn to Ice Skate with the Eugene Figure Skating Club!
Anyone can learn—there is no experience needed—for recreational skating, figure skating, and hockey. Beginner and Advanced Classes for Ages 4 through Adult start September 18 with an 8-week session. New Semester of Coyote Kids! Enrichment Program Begins Soon
Your child will explore skills in bushcraft, naturalist skills, nature hikes and cooperative awareness games—children work together in small groups gaining knowledge of plants, mammals, tracking, birds, and survival, as well as increasing their overall nature awareness. Hip-Hop Dance Class
We are so excited to be able to offer dance this year at Edgewood! This high energy, positive and fun dance class will allow students the opportunity to move and grove while they learn the fundamentals of hip hop dance! The class is Wednesdays after school from 3:15 – 4:15 (pick up is promptly at 4:15) and Fridays after school at 2:00pm. Classes start the week of SEPTEMBER 17TH. Eugene Science Center
Eugene Science Center (formerly Science Factory) is hosting 10 weeks of full-day summer camps for rising 1st – 5th graders (completed k – 5th in June 2018). Camps run from 9 AM to 4 PM with extended care available from 8 AM to 5 PM. Eugene Science Center members receive 10% off, and scholarships are available; receive an additional 10% off after your first week of camp. Campers will explore engineering, nature, astronomy, anatomy, paleontology, and other STEM topics in fun and exciting ways. South Eugene Basketball Camp
The purpose of the South Eugene Basketball Camp is to provide instruction of all fundamentals of the game of basketball to all children between the ages of 5-15. The camp is directed by the head coach of the South Eugene Boys’ Basketball program, Dave Hancock and the Head coach of the South Eugene Girls’ Basketball program, Don Brown. Current high school players will assist the head coaches. If your kids enjoy exploring, biking, bug catching, treasure hunting, and other fun nature adventures, then they should participate in Nearby Nature’s outdoor summer daycamps! Nearby Nature’s camps are a unique medley of adventure, science, nature, art, play, and gardening. Most take place in Alton Baker Park, in the group’s unique Learnscape Gardens. Daycamps run from June 18-August 31, last one week each, and serve kids from three to 13 years old. Half and full day options are available and enrollment is limited to 12 children per camp. Whole Earth Nature School
Whole Earth Nature School offers your kids a chance to get outside this summer and have an epic adventure while learning real outdoor skills. South Eugene Soccer Camp
At South Eugene High School Soccer Camp, your child (for students entering grades 1-9) will enjoy all the high school soccer team players as counselors, learn from their years of experience, and have a lot of fun improving his or her skills and confidence! Kids are grouped by the grade they’re entering in the fall, so they’ll see some old friends and meet new ones! Each soccer player receives free soccer ball. Camp held at YMCA field/SEHS turf and grass fields. Monday – Thursday, June 18-21, 9am-2pm. $130 for first kid $110 for siblings $65 for free/reduced. University of Oregon Volleyball is pleased to offer a variety of volleyball camp options this summer. This includes our Youth Camp which is designed for elementary and junior high students (beginning and intermediate level). All Youth Camp participants receive a volleyball and a Duck t-shirt. Youth Camp will be held on three nights in July (7/9 – 7/11) from 6:30-8:30pm at Matt Knight Arena.
TrackTown Youth League meet for all-comers May 22
The TrackTown Youth League is a series of 15 FREE all-comer track meets across Oregon, open to all boys and girls ages 7-14. Events include the 100m, 400m, 1500m, long jump and turbo javelin. No prior track & field experience is needed! Top finishers will advance to a championship meet at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon held in conjunction with the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships!

The Academic Achievement Center (AAC) is excited about the possibility of adding Edgewood Community Elementary School to our pick up service for the STEM Shuttle! We want to see what the interest level is now and see if there is enough interest in an Edgewood pickup. We hope to start picking up after school at Edgewood on Tuesday and/or Thursdays. If you’d like more information on the program you can go to https://www.eugeneaac.com/aac-shuttle or call the AAC at 541-654-4999. Space on the shuttle is limited to 10 students per day. There currently is not an option for Edgewood on the registration page, so please email the AAC at email@example.com and indicate if you’d like Tuesdays, Thursdays, or both Tuesdays and Thursdays.
