Box Tops

Box Tops collected year round

It’s time to kick off the 2018-2019 “Big Box Tops Challenge!” At Edgewood we have had a goal of 10,000 Box Tops every year, this year we would love to beat that, even by just one Box Top.

Look for the handout coming home with your student! There will be a sheet that holds twenty-five Box Tops, but before you glue or tape the Box Tops to the sheet please make sure they are not expired. Just make sure your student’s name and classroom number is on the sheet. The classes are competing for trophies that are awarded three times a year. THANK YOU for helping support our school!

Gardening volunteers needed

Edgewood’s School Garden is growing…

And we need your help! Volunteer an hour a month or an hour a week in the school garden. Opportunities to help take classes out, no experience or planning necessary,  or just come help tend the garden. Training and guidance provided as needed. Edgewood’s School Garden plays a vital role in the outdoor education of our students—please help us with this important aspect of school!

New and exciting additions from the PTA

Edgewood to meet technology/furniture needs next year, thanks to PTA

PTA members voted to spend about $27,000 to upgrade severely outdated technology (for example, projectors that project images too small for kids in the back to see and computers as old as 2005) and furniture needs, such as kindergarten chairs and desks for a new kinder class next year and broken chairs that teachers are making due with. The money is available through a special fund that was set up when Evergreen Elementary and Edgewood Elementary merged.

Pick up your Medications.

No Medications Left Behind!

All student oral medications will be discarded on June 18th.  No Exceptions!

Set yourself a reminder to pick up medications no later than June 15th, the last day of school.  We cannot keep medications over the summer and we cannot check them out to your child. Epi pens and inhalers will be sent home with your child only with permission.  Call 541-790-8700 to arrange this.

An extra special thank you to David Van Slyke for his role as PTA treasurer this year! We appreciate all of the work you put into this role and writing oh-so-many checks!

Another extra special thank you to Tracie Harness for her role as PTA vice-president this year! We appreciate all of the work you did keeping track of so many members and for your leadership in remodeling the staff room!

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this school year fabulous! It takes hundreds of volunteers throughout the year to pull off all the fundraising and community building events, field trips and classroom activities each year. Thank you for stepping up and taking on some of these tasks!

Have a great week and we will see you next year!

Field Day!

Tomorrow is Field Day! – Tuesday June 12

Thank you to all of you who have volunteered to help!  It is going to be a great day!

KG-2nd Grade – 9:30-11:00 (Volunteers show up at 9:00 or 8:30 for set up)

3rd-5th Grade – 1:10-2:40 (Volunteers show up at 12:45 or 12:20 for set up)

The weather looks sunny and hot! Please consider having your kids put on sunscreen, bring a water bottle, wear a hat and have an extra set of clothes as they may get wet!  The fields may still be wet from this weekend’s rains.  Please also consider packing extra socks and shoes to change into if needed.

FREE DONUTS for parents at PTA information table Thursday, June 7

Co-presidents Beth Casper and Julia McMorran will have a table set up after school on Thursday, June 7, to hand out free donuts to parents and answer any questions you have about the PTA and see if one of our volunteer opportunities fits you! We have all kinds of volunteer opportunities, including Popcorn Coordinator, Social Media Editor and Newsletter Editor, that need to be filled for next year. These things won’t happen next year without volunteers! If we all donated an hour a month, what a difference it would make! Stop by and say hi!

PTA- last meeting this year

Last PTA meeting June 5

Our PTA meeting is now the first week of June. It is Tuesday, June 5th from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Edgewood Library. Childcare is provided by the Edgewood PTA free to parents in the cafeteria. At the budget meeting in early May, PTA members agreed to spend about $27,000 to upgrade severely outdated technology (for example, projectors that project images too small for kids in the back to see and computers as old as 2005) and furniture needs, such as kindergarten chairs and desks for a new kinder class next year and broken chairs that teachers are making due with. The money is available through a special fund that was set up when Evergreen Elementary and Edgewood Elementary merged. This proposal will be voted on at the June meeting. Also on the agenda is a presentation by Sarah Mazze, the school district’s safe routes to school program manager.
