What is the parent group?

Our group is primarily a fundraising body that generates funds to supplement and enrich the educational and social environment of Edgewood Community Elementary School.

The group’s steering committee is composed of officers and committee chairpersons. One of the officers also serves on the Site Council. We have grade level representatives (two from each grade) and committee/project chairpersons.

We meet on the third Tuesday of each month in the school library from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. During the month of January our Family Fun Night sub-committee meets weekly on Friday mornings from 8:15-9:00 to prepare for our biggest fundraiser, Family Fun Night!

You can volunteer to be a regular member of the group, or you can just offer to help on a particular project.

Site Council – Staff and Parents leading the school together

The Edgewood Site Council is the governing body of the school. Parents and school staff work together to make decisions for our learning community. The Site Council generally focuses on the following issues:

  • policy change
  • school budget
  • grants
  • school improvement goals
  • curriculum
  • staff development

Meeting minutes are posted in the school office and are open to the public.

If you are interested in joining this group, please send an email to Principal Jim Moore.
