A note from our school nurse regarding bringing food items to share in the classroomThere may be times you feel inclined to bring food items to share with your student and their classmates. Please know your generosity is so appreciated
. As a reminder, there may be students in the classroom that have food allergies and special dietary needs. Please be mindful of the following when considering sharing treats with your student's class:
**All items brought in must be commercially purchased and nutrition/ingredient labels available, per 4J Nutrition Services.
**Please notify teacher's in advance (minimum 5 days) if you plan to bring something **in. This allows time for alternative options to be made available for students with food allergies and special dietary needs. Alternatively, check with classroom teachers for dietary restrictions and bring an item safe for everyone
. **Please be aware, not all requests to bring food items to the classroom may be approved.

SEED SurveyYour students will be offered to take a survey called the Student Educational Equity Development Survey (SEED). Starting in 2023-24, The state of Oregon requires (HB 2656) school districts to make the Student Educational Equity Development Survey (SEED) available to all enrolled students in grades 3-11. The content of the survey varies by grade level. The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete and measures student perceptions in four core constructs: Access to learning resources
- Opportunity to learn
- Self-efficacy
- Sense of belonging
A full list of survey items is available online.
-
Parents or guardians can opt their student out of taking the SEED Survey by completing this form: SEED Survey Opt-Out Form - SEED OPT-OUT Spanish and turning it into the front office.
- Students may decline, at any time before or during the survey, to participate in the SEED Survey via their answer to the first SEED Survey question.
In August, the Oregon Department of Education will release aggregated and suppressed SEED survey results to schools and districts through the Achievement Data Insight (ADI) application, and on ODE’s public website.Though not a test, the survey is distributed via the OSAS (state testing) portal, and it's open during the testing window. Edgewood Silent Auction Volunteers NeededWe need your help reaching our fundraising goal to support our students! Requests for donations have been sent out to local businesses, and the Silent Auction Committee could use help following up on those requests and reaching out to businesses who previously donated. If you are able to assist, please reach out to Meghan Marcott at
edgewoodschoolsilentauction@gmail.com Also, if you have a business that would like to donate, we would love to hear from you! Last year we had a great response from our Edgewood families, and I would love to repeat that again this year so we can reach that $10,000 goal!
SICK? - When to keep your kids home and when to send them to schoolWe have a lot of sick students today! Please take the time to read this
helpful handout to help answer questions regarding when to keep your kids home and when to send them to school if they are not feeling well.
In particular we are hearing reports of a lot of stomach illnesses. Please help keep our Edgewood school community healthy. Students should stay home for 48 hours following their final vomit/diarrhea episode. Edgewood Snack Pack Program needs your help! Edgewood's PTA runs a Snack Pack program and we need your help! The program provides a bag of snacks for the weekend to students who may rely on school meals for their primary source of nutrition. In order to do this we need lots of snacks! Please consider donating individually packaged snacks (the healthier the better, but there are no requirements). It doesn't matter how many, half boxes of previously favorite and now rejected snacks are great, every handful helps. Donations can be brought to the office.

Free LTD Transit Pass! All students in 4J schools can get a student pass to ride Lane Transit District (LTD) buses for free. Student transit passes can be used to travel anywhere within the LTD service area. Student passes can be used at any time—after school, on weekends and during school breaks, as well as to get to and from school each day.
To get a free LTD student transit pass, available as a tap card or Umo smartphone app, guardians/parents can make the request for elementary students; middle and high school students can request their own passes at the front office or at high school registration events. Passes are valid from September 1 of the current school year to September 30 of the following year and can be renewed by the school each year for ongoing free service.
