EDGEWOOD SILENT AUCTION - Donations Needed!
We are currently planning our 3rd annual Edgewood PTA Silent Auction for the first week in May. Letters have gone out to local business owners, but we know many of our Edgewood families have businesses or connections that could help with donations. Anything goes! From gift baskets, event tickets, experiences, services, vacation rentals and more. For the last 2 years, an Edgewood family graciously donated 2 nights to their 2 Airbnb cabins and it made up almost 15% of our total amount raised. Imagine if we had a few more rentals how much it could bring in to support our students! Our goal this year is to raise $10,000, and with your help, I know we can!
All donations are tax deductible, and we are happy to provide you with a receipt including our EIN. If you have any questions, or would like to donate, please email Meghan Marcott at edgewoodschoolsilentauction@gmail.com.
RISE in ILLNESS! When to stay home….
Please remind kids to wash hands often and thoroughly! Thank you to everyone who has kept kids with illnesses home to prevent more spread in our classroom.
These are the symptoms we have been seeing the most at school. Here are a few guidelines on when to return to school:
- Fever of 100.4 or greater - Kids should be fever free for 24 hours without taking fever-reducing medicine.
- New cough illness - symptoms need to be consistently improving for 24 hours (no cough or controlled cough)
- Diarrhea/vomiting- symptom free for 24 hours
We appreciate you keeping our Edgewood Community healthy by keeping kids experiencing these symptoms home to recover!
PLEASE PACK AN EXTRA CHANGE OF CLOTHES!
THIS IS TRUE FOR ALL KIDS! Please make sure that kids dress for the weather and have them bring some extra clothes in case they need them. They will be happier as will the front office staff!
OTHER OPPORTUNITIES
Parent Education: Conscious Discipline
We will be holding an 8-week series on Monday evenings at Edison beginning after spring break and Tuesday evenings at Charlemagne beginning February 25. Parents/Caregivers/Families with children attending any of our four South region elementary schools are invited to attend. In the past, parents have expressed their appreciation for the series, the positive impact it has had on their relationship with their child and parenting partner, and increased sense of community with other parents.
Thanks to grant funding from United Way and Early Childhood Hub of Lane County, we're able to provide dinner, childcare, and additional incentives for attending.
Here is a link to an information flyer about the series, with a link to register to attend.

Youth Raptor Art Challenge
Cascades Raptor Center is hosting a second year of the Youth Raptor Art Challenge, a science and art-based activity. We are inviting Oregon students in grades K-12 to participate by creating a raptor portrait on 8.5"x11" paper. This year's youth art challenge theme and featured species: American Kestrel and Barn Owl. Submissions are due March 23th and entries are completely free . A selection of work will go on display at the Raptor Center and another local venue. All artwork submitted through classrooms will be returned before the end of the school year. Through the art challenge we hope to engage the community by raising awareness of local wildlife and reconnect with Oregon's environmental assets.
