STAFF ROOM TREATS (and needs)
Our staff has loved having surprise treats dropped off for the staff room.  Thank you to everyone that has surprised us with cookies, bagels, veggies, crackers, cheese, muffins etc......   It gives us a little boost and puts a pep in our step!  We appreciate you and will love seeing what other surprises appear in the staff room!
But wait!  There's more........Staff room needs a new (or almost new and in pristine condition) microwave!  One of our staff room microwaves broke down today and we are down to one.  Teachers have a very short window of time for lunch and it is so nice to have two working microwaves so that staff can spend less time waiting and more time eating!  We are reaching out to our Edgewood community to see if anyone has a microwave to donate to our staff room.  Thank you!

VISION/DENTAL Screening – Dec 10
Our vision/dental screening will take place on Dec 10.  If you would like to opt out, please fill out this form.  Opt outs need to be received before Dec. 5.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED for Vision/Dental Screening
 Wednesday, December 10, 2025, 8:45-11:45 am
We need 3-5 parent volunteers to help out starting at 845am. We need help with students as they arrive in the gym to stay calm and quiet, helping the flow of the line moving from Vision to Dental and then lining up with their class when done.
Please contact Nurse Jenny Downes if you are available to help or have any questions. Thanks!!

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR – December 10-14
The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Edgewood Wednesday, December 10th – Sunday, December 14th!
During the week, kids will shop at their regularly scheduled class library time.
During our weekend times, friends & families can shop together! Saturday, 10-12, and Sunday, 2-4.
Most non-book items (posters, stickers, pens, etc.) will be available on the weekend.
Cash, credit cards, checks and eWallets are all accepted. The eWallet is a great option if you’d rather not send cash, or if others want to contribute (it’s a great early holiday gift!). If you put money on the eWallet, please let your kiddos know so they know how much they have and to give their name at the register to pay.
You can also contribute to the Share The Fair Fund to help us make sure all kids get a chance to buy a book. The PTA uses this money for students who may not be able to otherwise afford to shop at the book fair.
We’re also looking for parent volunteers to help make this Book Fair the best it can be.
https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/edgewoodelemschool this link will take you to the website where you can find the eWallet, Share The Fair, and our Volunteer Sign Up.
If you would like your child to be added to the Share The Fair Fund, please contact Tanya.
Every purchase gives back to our school!

Hand Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD)
We have had several reported cases at Edgewood of HFMD.
HFMD is a common and generally mild viral illness, especially among young children. Because it is highly contagious, we want to ensure all families are aware so you can monitor your child for symptoms.
Common symptoms typically include:

  • Fever
  • Sore throat
  • Painful mouth sores
  • Rash on the hands, feet, and sometimes the buttocks
If your child develops any of these symptoms, please keep them home from school and contact your healthcare provider.
The best ways to prevent the spread of HFMD are frequent handwashing (especially after using the restroom and before eating), and routinely cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces.
For more detailed information about HFMD, including symptoms and prevention, please refer to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website:
CDC Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease Information
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students healthy and safe.

SUPPORTING OUR EDGEWOOD VILLAGE and COMMUNITY
We know that the food and financial needs are getting bigger for many in our community and simultaneously that so many are looking for ways to contribute.  Below are some ways to contribute here at Edgewood and we are so grateful for your generosity.

SCHOLASTIC BOOKFAIR SCHOLARSHIP –
Please donate to our book fund to help our students in financial need.  We are hoping to offer each student $10-15 budget during the bookfair but it depends on Edgewood community donations. You can donate here:  https://shop.scholastic.com/stf/fund?orgUCN=600088352

EDGEWOOD FOOD DRIVE for FOOD FOR LANE COUNTY
Our food drive is up and running and we are still collecting donations! All items will be donated to Food for Lane County. . We are still looking for a few volunteers to sign up to pick up from Edgewood and drop off at Food for Lane County on Wednesdays and Fridays between 12 and 3. Our plan is to host the drive until the Friday before winter break.  Please bring donations to your student's classroom as the office does not have the space to house all of the donations.  Please let us know if you have any questions, and thank you so much for supporting our community!

EDGEWOOD SNACK PACKS for Edgewood Families
Our ever growing snack pack program  is designed to provide healthy snacks that are shelf stable and individually packaged for over the weekend.  We need snack donations!  Think oatmeal packets, apple sauce, fruit cups, granola bars, crackers, goldfish......
** Please let us know if your student would benefit from receiving a weekly snack pack

 EDGEWOOD VILLAGE SCHOLARSHIPS
At Edgewood we want to make sure all students feel included and that cost should never be a barrier.  We always make sure that families have access to things like school photos, Edgewood Apparel etc.  If you would like to donate to our "Edgewood Village", you can do so at this link: https://schoolpay.com/pay/for/Edgewood-Village-Scholarship-Support/SiHzjL

A note about Parentsquare
We would love for all families to create an account on Parentsquare as we use it for school communications from the front office.
To register for ParentSquare, visit www.parentsquare.com/signin and then enter your email or mobile phone number under “Register” to get started. Make sure to enter the email or mobile phone number you provided your child’s school. You will receive school communications regardless if you register for ParentSquare. Registering, however, allows you to reply to or send messages, appreciate or comment on posts, sign permission slips, manage communication preferences, and more!

Please email bunson_t@4j.lane.edu to respond to this newsblast or create an account on parentsquare to reply directly.
